TRE-4: The Largest BPSC Teacher Recruitment Drive in Bihar
The upcoming Teacher Recruitment Exam (TRE-4) will be conducted by BPSC as a part of the state government’s initiative to strengthen the public education infrastructure and address the long-standing issue of teacher shortage.
According to Minister Sunil Kumar, the goal is to ensure that every government school in Bihar is equipped with adequate staff before the next academic year begins.
“We are committed to ensuring quality education. Timely recruitment and proper placements of teachers are critical. The TRE-4 examination will be conducted before August begins, and over 1.6 lakh teaching posts will be filled,” — Education Minister Sunil Kumar

Although the official BPSC TRE-4 notification is yet to be released, based on previous exam patterns, the recruitment is expected to cover positions such as:
-
Primary Teachers (Classes 1–5)
-
Middle School Teachers (Classes 6–8)
-
High School Teachers (Classes 9–10)

Higher Secondary Teachers (Classes 11–12)
Eligibility criteria will include:

Statewide Transfers and Postings Before August 10
To complement the recruitment, the Education Department has also prioritized the rationalization and redistribution of current teaching staff. Many teachers have been working outside their home districts or posted in distant blocks, leading to logistical and academic inefficiencies.
Minister Sunil Kumar emphasized that by August 10, 2025, all teacher transfers and new postings will be executed to ensure equitable teacher distribution across urban and rural schools.
Special Focus: Recruitment for Children with Disabilities
In a significant step towards inclusive education, the Bihar government has approved the recruitment of 7,279 special educators. These teachers will be appointed through BPSC and will serve schools identified as needing inclusive education programs for students with disabilities.
The process for identifying schools and sending data to BPSC has been completed, and the recruitment drive will be launched in tandem with TRE-4.
“We are committed to making schools accessible and inclusive for all. The appointment of special educators will be a game-changer for children with disabilities,” — Education Minister
Compassionate Appointments: 6,421 Positions to Be Filled
Another important announcement was the launch of compassionate appointments (Anukampa Niyukti), where family members of deceased government employees will be appointed to vacant positions.
As per the Education Department’s data, 6,421 such positions are currently vacant and will be filled soon under the updated compassionate appointment policy, which has already been finalized and notified.
Timely Exams: Sakshamta and Special Teacher Tests
In addition to TRE-4, Minister Sunil Kumar assured that other key recruitment exams, including:
-
Sakshamta Pariksha (Eligibility Test)
-
Special Educator Examination
will be conducted on schedule. The state aims to complete all major teacher recruitments in 2025, ensuring minimal disruption to academic sessions.
