A Heart-Wrenching Scene in Indore
Govind’s arrival at Raja’s home was marked by visible grief and penitence. He emotionally approached Raja’s mother, touched her feet in a gesture of apology, and urged the family to forgive his sister, acknowledging her guilt. In a poignant moment, he asserted that Sonam “should be hanged” if found guilty
Raja’s mother, visibly shaken, responded tearfully. She expressed her profound heartbreak, stating she had treated Sonam like a daughter but never imagined she could do something so grievous. She questioned their bond and the trust they placed in Sonam, repeating, “Why didn’t you tell us earlier, brother?” Govind Pledges Justice
Govind declared his unwavering commitment to justice, insisting, “I will ensure Sonam faces the law.” He added that he would personally handle legal proceedings and clear “all responsibilities” from Raja’s family. He defined the bonds between themselves and Sonam as severed—“We have ended all relations with her. We will fight for justice for Raja” .
Allegations and Family Fallout
Govind firmly denied any romantic relationship between Raja and Sonam, describing them as siblings. He stated that they maintained a brother-sister relationship: Raja called Sonam “didi,” and she tied a rakhi on him each year. He contended that rumors of an affair are false.
Despite this claim, Govind admitted that Sonam had previously interacted with Raj Kushwaha, identified by investigators as Sonam’s alleged lover and co-conspirator in the murder. He revealed she had tied a rakhi to Raj annually for three years—a ritual traditionally for brothers—suggesting familiarity between them Case Updates and Public Outcry.
The tragic incident occurred during the couple’s honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja Raghuvanshi, 29, was found dead with his throat slit on December 2 near a waterfall. A Special Investigation Team suspects Sonam orchestrated the murder, allegedly recruiting four men, including Raj Kushwaha, to carry out the killing .
Following a two-week disappearance, Sonam surrendered to the authorities in Ghazipur, claiming she had been kidnapped and drugged—an allegation disputed by police .
Govind stands firm, saying with certainty that Sonam “killed Raja” and voiced support for the death penalty if convicted. He also expressed remorse to the Meghalaya government for how the crime has impacted the state’s reputation.
The public apology symbolizes a rare admission of guilt and accountability from the accused’s family. Govind’s heartfelt approach helped ease tensions with Raja’s mother, but her grief was overwhelming. As she lamented how her adopted daughter could commit such violence, the heartbreak was palpable between the two families.
The emotional exchange has brought both families and the wider community to the forefront of a case marked by betrayal, tragedy, and a quest for justice.
