KKN Gurugram Desk | Uttar Pradesh is bracing for a series of weather changes as the monsoon continues to make its way through the state. According to the latest UP weather forecast, parts of both western and eastern Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience rain and thunderstorms on June 24, 2025, with a possibility of heavy rainfall in certain areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for various districts, and the state’s weather is expected to remain turbulent through the next few days.

Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorms Expected Across UP

The weather conditions across Uttar Pradesh will change rapidly, with thunderstorms and rain predicted for several regions. Specifically, western and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh will experience heavy showers and thunderstorms on June 24, while other parts of the state may witness light to moderate rainfall.

Districts including Lakhimpur Kheri, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Banda, and Agra are expected to face significant rainfall. Additionally, areas like Pilibhit, Jalaun, Firozabad, Mahoba, Lalitpur, Hamirpur, Jhansi, and surrounding areas may also experience heavy rain. The forecast further predicts thunderstorms with lightning across districts like Deoria, Kushinagar, Ballia, Mau, Azamgarh, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Shravasti, and Kanpur.

The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for most parts of the state, warning about the possibility of thunderstorms and moderate rainfall. As per the forecast, the monsoon is expected to cover the rest of the state, with significant rainfall expected through June 29, 2025.

Western Uttar Pradesh to Experience Heavy Rains Starting June 25

The real intensity of rainfall will begin from June 25, with the western regions of Uttar Pradesh, including areas such as Meerut, Ghaziabad, and Noida, expected to receive heavy rainfall. This shift in weather conditions is predicted to bring in a wave of monsoon rains, which have been anticipated since the early days of the monsoon season.

Meteorologists are predicting that heavy rainfall could be seen in the western part of the state, as low-pressure areas from nearby regions interact with the prevailing monsoon winds. As western UP prepares for a surge in rainfall, local authorities are being urged to be on alert to manage potential flooding and ensure public safety.

IMD’s Yellow Alert and Key Weather Patterns in UP

The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for most districts of Uttar Pradesh, except for the 24 districts where heavy rainfall is expected. The Yellow Alert indicates the likelihood of light to moderate rainfall, which could lead to disruptions in daily activities but is not expected to cause severe damage. The Yellow Alert is also indicative of the unpredictable nature of the weather, which may bring local thunderstorms and lightning strikes.

Weather experts are forecasting that the heavy rainfall that had been expected during the initial stages of the monsoon will continue in isolated pockets, but the overall rainfall distribution has been slightly uneven. Meteorologists have noted that while heavy rainfall was predicted earlier, it hasn’t been as widespread or consistent due to some shifts in the monsoon’s track and atmospheric pressure.

Challenges in Rainfall Distribution Across the State

Despite the monsoon being in full swing since mid-June, Uttar Pradesh has not received the expected volume of rainfall in several regions, especially in the southern parts like Kanpur. Chandra Shekhar Azad Agriculture and Technology University in Kanpur, for instance, has recorded 75.4mm of rainfall from June 17 to June 23, but the overall rainfall has been below expectations for much of the region.

The major issue has been uneven rainfall distribution, with some areas experiencing good rainfall, while others have had limited showers. On June 23, despite heavy cloud cover in the region, there was no significant rainfall in Kanpur, even after the IMD issued an Orange Alert twice. A shift in the turf line (a boundary between two different air masses) moving upward led to a disruption in the rainfall pattern, causing the delay in expected rainfall.

Weather Outlook: What’s to Come?

Looking ahead, June 25, 2025, marks the beginning of intense rainfall for western Uttar Pradesh, with the possibility of heavy showers throughout the region. This weather shift will be influenced by atmospheric conditions that favor the arrival of more rain-bearing clouds. According to Dr. S.N. Sunil Pandey, a meteorological expert, the monsoon’s activity is expected to increase, but the lack of low-pressure zones has led to some of the previous delays in heavy rainfall.

In the northern and central regions of Uttar Pradesh, however, the rain is expected to remain moderate. The maximum humidity in the state reached 89% on June 23, which means the atmosphere is saturated, and rain could be intense in specific regions. The wind direction is mainly northeastern, and moisture is being drawn in from both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, further contributing to the ongoing rainfall.

Impact of the Weather on Agriculture and Daily Life

Heavy rainfall in the western and central regions of Uttar Pradesh will undoubtedly have a major impact on the agricultural sector, as farmers depend on timely rainfall for their crops. The monsoon rains are critical for crops like rice, sugarcane, and maize, which are cultivated extensively in the region. As farmers gear up for the crucial sowing period, the rains will provide much-needed relief to the soil, ensuring a good crop yield.

However, the heavy rainfall could also pose challenges in the form of flooding, especially in low-lying areas and those near rivers and streams. The authorities have been advised to monitor water levels closely and prepare for potential flooding incidents, particularly in areas like Kanpur, Agra, and Mathura.

How to Stay Updated on UP Weather

For people in Uttar Pradesh looking to stay informed about the latest weather updates and alerts, it is important to keep an eye on official weather channels and IMD notifications. As the monsoon season intensifies, accurate and timely weather information will be crucial to ensure public safety, particularly for farmers and travelers.

Live weather updates can be accessed through weather apps and websites, and local authorities will continue to monitor the situation closely to provide real-time updates and safety guidelines.

The monsoon season in Uttar Pradesh is expected to intensify over the next few days, with heavy rainfall predicted in various districts, especially in the western regions of the state. As June 25 approaches, rain-bearing clouds are expected to bring intense rainfall to areas such as Meerut, Ghaziabad, and Noida, while southern regions may continue to experience moderate rainfall.

The IMD’s warnings of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning must be taken seriously, and citizens are advised to stay alert for weather updates. With the monsoon still in full swing, Uttar Pradesh is expected to see continued rainfall, which will have both positive and challenging effects on agriculture and daily life. It remains to be seen how this active weather pattern will evolve in the coming days, but the overall forecast suggests that rainfall will persist until June 29, 2025, with moderate to heavy rainfall expected throughout the state.
