KKN Gurugram Desk | The spiritual city of Ayodhya witnessed an overwhelming surge of devotion as millions of pilgrims gathered to celebrate Ram Navami 2025, commemorating the birth of Lord Ram. The city transformed into a sacred hub of faith, culture, and heritage as devotees thronged the Saryu River for holy dips, Ram Lalla darshan, and an unforgettable Deepotsav celebration that lit up the city like a galaxy of stars.

Historic Turnout on Ram Navami in Ayodhya

From the early hours of April 6, thousands began pouring into Ayodhya to participate in the auspicious Ram Janmotsav. By mid-morning, every street, lane, and ghat in the city was alive with chants of “Jai Shri Ram”.

The Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat on the banks of the Saryu River became the focal point of celebration. After performing ceremonial baths, pilgrims flocked to the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir for darshan of the newly installed idol of Ram Lalla, marking the first grand-scale Ram Navami since the temple’s Pran Pratishtha earlier this year.

Deepotsav at Saryu Ghat: 2.51 Lakh Diyas Illuminate the Night

The highlight of the day was the breathtaking Deepotsav organized by the Tourism Department of Uttar Pradesh. As the sun set, 2,51,000 oil lamps (diyas) were lit across the steps and platforms of the ghat, creating a magical reflection on the flowing Saryu.

Over 15 schools participated in the grand lighting ceremony, where students, volunteers, and citizens joined hands to arrange the diyas. The sheer scale and synchrony turned the ghat into a glowing river of light, showcasing Ayodhya’s rich tradition and collective faith.

“It felt like heaven had descended upon Earth,” said Kavita Singh, a first-time visitor from Varanasi. “The energy, the lights, and the devotion – it’s something I’ll never forget.”

Given the massive footfall, the district administration deployed drone surveillance, barricades, and hundreds of police personnel across key areas to ensure safety and order. Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat, which hosted the Deepotsav, witnessed such a large crowd that even finding space to sit or stand became a challenge.

Devotees, however, remained peaceful and united in their devotion, singing bhajans, participating in Saryu Aarti, and offering prayers to Mother Ganga under the starlit sky.
