KKN Gurugram Desk | The weather across several states in India has taken a dramatic shift, bringing thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for multiple regions, forecasting intense weather conditions in the coming days. Some areas may also witness hailstorms as an active western disturbance influences the weather pattern.

Delhi-NCR to Experience Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds

The weather in Delhi-NCR has been fluctuating significantly. On February 26, 2025, cloudy skies dominated the day, with light showers bringing a noticeable dip in temperature. According to IMD, the impact of the new western disturbance will be visible over the next two days, leading to heavy rainfall and strong winds.

The weather department predicts thunderstorms and gusty winds on February 27 and 28, affecting daily life in the region. People have been advised to stay cautious as the stormy weather could disrupt traffic and lead to waterlogging in some areas.

Punjab and Haryana Under Weather Alert

The IMD has also issued warnings for Punjab and Haryana, where strong winds and rain are expected. Wind speeds may range between 30 to 40 km per hour, posing risks of damage to weak structures and trees. Some areas in these states might experience hailstorms and thunderstorms, which could affect agricultural fields.

Farmers in these regions should take necessary precautions, as hailstorms and heavy rains can impact standing crops, particularly wheat and mustard, which are at the maturing stage.

Severe Weather Expected in Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh

In northern India, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will witness intense thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and possible snowfall. The IMD has predicted that certain regions in these states could experience severe weather conditions, potentially leading to travel disruptions in hilly terrains.

Tourists visiting the hill stations should be prepared for sudden temperature drops and challenging road conditions. Authorities have advised caution, especially in higher altitudes where heavy snowfall may block roads and affect transportation.

Western Disturbance to Affect Rajasthan

The western disturbance has also started affecting Rajasthan, leading to cloudy skies across several districts. The IMD forecast indicates that some areas might experience rainfall and hailstorms within the next 24 hours.

Cities like Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, and Jaisalmer could see cloudy weather with intermittent rain showers. The sudden weather shift might impact visibility and create challenges for commuters and farmers in the region.

Temperature to Drop in Several Regions

The ongoing weather changes are expected to cause a drop in minimum temperatures across northern and central India. Over the next three days, a decline in temperature is anticipated, bringing colder nights to several regions.

On March 1, 2025Delhi and adjoining areas will continue to witness cloudy weather. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 27°C, while the minimum may drop to 16°C. However, by March 3, the storm and rain activity is likely to subside, allowing temperatures to gradually rise again.

Precautionary Measures for the Public

With stormy weather affecting multiple states, residents and travelers should take necessary precautions:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
  • Secure loose objects in open areas to prevent wind damage.
  • Farmers should cover crops to minimize hailstorm damage.
  • Monitor weather updates and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities.

The next few days will be crucial for weather monitoring, especially in Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh. Authorities are closely observing the weather changes to provide timely updates.

Residents should stay informed and take necessary precautions to stay safe amid the unpredictable weather conditions. Keep an eye on official weather bulletins to plan your activities accordingly.
