KKN Gurugram Desk | In the wake of the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 civilian lives, India launched a decisive military operation named “Operation Sindoor” on May 7, 2025. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), aiming to dismantle the networks responsible for cross-border terrorism.

Immediate Notification to Pakistan

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan revealed that Pakistan was formally informed about the airstrikes just five minutes after their completion. The strikes occurred between 1:05 am and 1:30 am IST, and by 1:35 am, India’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) communicated with his Pakistani counterpart. The message clarified that the strikes were solely against terrorist camps, with no intention to target Pakistani military installations or civilians.

Strategic Objectives and Execution

Operation Sindoor was meticulously planned to neutralize nine terrorist camps linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. The operation demonstrated India’s commitment to combating terrorism while minimizing collateral damage. The swift execution and immediate communication underscored India’s strategic intent and adherence to international norms.

Pakistan’s Response and Ceasefire

Despite initial retaliatory actions, including drone and missile strikes by Pakistan, the intensity of India’s response led to a de-escalation. Within eight hours of the initial strikes, Pakistan sought to cease hostilities, indicating the effectiveness of India’s strategy.

Operation Sindoor stands as a testament to India’s resolve in addressing terrorism emanating from across its borders. The operation’s precision, coupled with prompt diplomatic communication, highlights a balanced approach to national security and regional stability.
