KKN Gurugram  Desk | The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Class 10 Science Exam on February 20, 2025, across various exam centers in India. The exam was held in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Students had mixed reactions about the difficulty level, with some finding the paper moderate, while others struggled with application-based and case-study questions.

Student Reactions: A Mixed Response

Many students shared their experiences after the exam. Some found the Science paper to be a balanced mix of theoretical and case-based questions, while others found certain sections challenging.

Physics Was Tricky, Chemistry Had Unexpected Questions

Harleen Kaur from Mohali stated:
“The paper was moderate. However, the Physics section was a bit tricky. I also struggled with time management but managed to complete it just in time.”

Ashwit Ratan from Lucknow mentioned:
“I forgot some heredity-related terminologies after feeling overwhelmed by the paper. The Chemistry section had multiple chemical reactions, but they were from the NCERT book, so I could attempt them easily. However, the Physics case studies were quite challenging.”

Prabhjot Kaur from Mohali had a different take:
“The exam was moderate, but Chemistry had some unexpected questions. If one had a clear understanding of concepts, the paper was not difficult.”

Biology Was Simple, Time Management Was Key

Neha from Mohali found the exam well-structured:
“The Biology section was simple, and I completed the paper within two hours. Since I prepared well, I found the paper manageable. Those who studied regularly and solved previous years’ question papers would have found it easier.”

Exam Structure and Question Paper Analysis

Educators reviewed the question paper and provided insights into its structure and difficulty level.

Section-Wise Breakdown of the CBSE Class 10 Science Exam

Section A: Objective-Type Questions

  • This section consisted of multiple-choice and theory-based questions.
  • Four Assertion and Reason Questions were included to test conceptual understanding.
  • No numerical-based questions were asked in this section.

Section B: Reasoning and Theoretical Questions

  • This section focused more on theoretical knowledge rather than numerical problems.
  • Some questions required logical reasoning and conceptual clarity.

Section C: A Blend of Theory and Case-Based Questions

  • This section was a mix of theoretical and case-study-based questions.
  • One or two questions were based on experimental aspects, making them slightly challenging.

Section D: Conceptual Questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

  • This section contained subject-wise theory-based questions with easy to moderate difficulty.

Section E: Competency-Based Questions

  • Questions in this section were designed to test students’ problem-solving abilities based on real-life applications.

Expert Opinions on the Exam Difficulty Level

Jayant Kumar, Head of the Science Department at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow, said:
“The paper was balanced and had a moderate level of difficulty. Students who solved CBSE sample papers, referred to NCERT books, and practiced Exemplar Exercises will score well.”

Renu Tewari, Head of the Science Department at Vidyagyan School, Bulandshahar, added:
“The paper was well-structured with application-based and high-order thinking questions. Section A tested understanding through MCQs, while Section B had reasoning-based questions. Section C required analytical thinking, Section D checked conceptual knowledge, and Section E focused on case studies related to topics like electric circuits, growth movement, and metals and non-metals.”

CBSE Class 10 Board Exams 2025: Key Highlights

  • This year, CBSE is conducting Class 10 and 12 board exams for around 44 lakh students from 8,000 schools in India and abroad.
  • The Class 10 Science exam was designed to assess conceptual knowledge, reasoning ability, and application-based learning.
  • Students who practiced previous years’ question papers and NCERT-based exercises found the paper easier compared to those who relied only on textbook learning.

What Can Students Expect in Upcoming CBSE Exams?

  • The difficulty level of future exams is expected to follow a similar pattern with a mix of conceptual, theoretical, and application-based questions.
  • CBSE has been focusing more on Competency-Based Questions (CBQs), so students should prepare accordingly.
  • Time management will be crucial in scoring well, as many students mentioned that they struggled to complete the paper on time

The CBSE Class 10 Science Exam 2025 was a well-balanced paper with a moderate difficulty level. While some students found the exam challenging due to case-based and application-driven questions, others who prepared well with NCERT books and sample papers managed to complete it successfully.

With CBSE focusing on concept-based and analytical questions, students are encouraged to focus on problem-solving skills rather than rote learning. As the board exams continue, students must keep track of CBSE updates, previous years’ question trends, and important exam strategies to score well.
