The robbery occurred at a warehouse operated by an e-commerce company where 19 employees were on duty. The criminals arrived on three motorcycles and stormed the premises, locking the employees in a cash room. During the chaos, they stole ₹4.95 lakh from the cash counter and physically assaulted several workers.
One employee, Prabhat Kumar Mishra (45), was shot when the alarm system was triggered. The criminals, enraged and panicked, fired at Mishra before fleeing the scene. Mishra, a resident of Silaut village in the Maniyari police station area, was rushed to a private hospital in Bairiya, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The criminals’ escape was partially captured on CCTV cameras. Footage shows them struggling to push-start one of their motorcycles, which ultimately failed. They abandoned the bike and fled on the remaining vehicles, brandishing their weapons.
The abandoned motorcycle has become a key piece of evidence in the investigation. Police are analyzing its registration details and other forensic evidence in hopes of identifying the gang.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sushil Kumar, the criminals had their faces covered, making it difficult to identify them from the CCTV footage. “We are investigating the matter, but no significant clues about the criminals have been found so far,” he stated.
