The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain and partly cloudy skies in Patna within the next 24 hours. The state is likely to experience increased monsoon activity, accompanied by thunder and lightning in several areas.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Patna, cloud cover will persist in the capital and surrounding areas. Light showers are expected in isolated places. Meanwhile, a heavy rainfall alert has been issued for six districts of Bihar, indicating active monsoon conditions in the region.

Rain Alert in Bihar: Six Districts Under Watch

The IMD has issued warnings for possible heavy rainfall in Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Purnia, Araria, and Kishanganj. These districts may witness significant downpours in one or two areas within the next 48 hours.

With increasing humidity and atmospheric moisture, temperatures are likely to rise by one to three degrees in the coming days. Residents across Bihar, especially in northern and eastern zones, are advised to stay updated on weather conditions.

Rainfall in Last 24 Hours: Supaul Records Highest

Many districts across Bihar received rainfall in the last 24 hours. The highest rainfall was recorded in Supaul’s Birpur area, which measured 70 mm. Other districts, including Jehanabad, Jamui, Gaya, Rohtas, Araria, Purnia, Banka, Nawada, Katihar, and Bhabua, also witnessed light to moderate rainfall.

Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 36.4°C, while Supaul noted the highest in the state at 38.2°C. The hot and humid conditions, coupled with easterly winds, made the day uncomfortable for residents in Patna and nearby regions.

Detailed Rainfall Report from Bihar

Here’s a detailed breakdown of rainfall recorded in different locations in the past 24 hours:

  • Jehanabad: 32.6 mm

  • Sono, Jamui: 12.2 mm

  • Chenari, Rohtas: 8.6 mm

  • Mohanpur, Gaya: 8.4 mm

  • Barachatti, Gaya: 7.2 mm

  • Bounsi, Banka: 6.2 mm

  • Forbesganj, Araria: 5.2 mm

  • Chandan, Banka: 3.2 mm

  • Ghosi, Jehanabad: 2.8 mm

  • Khaira, Jamui: 2.8 mm

  • Sasaram, Rohtas: 2.8 mm

  • Thakurganj, Kishanganj: 2.4 mm

  • Chand, Bhabua: 2.4 mm

  • Mansi, Katihar: 2.2 mm

  • Gaya Town: 2.2 mm

  • Bhabua (City): 1.2 mm

These figures indicate that while some regions received scattered showers, heavy rainfall remained limited to select areas.

Temperature Across Major Cities in Bihar

Here’s a look at the recorded temperatures across prominent cities on Saturday:

City Max Temp (°C) Min Temp (°C)
Patna 36.4 28.2
Gaya 34.8 26.4
Bhagalpur 36.5 27.6
Muzaffarpur 35.0 28.7

While Bhagalpur recorded the highest maximum temperature among major cities, Muzaffarpur saw the highest minimum temperature.

Humid Conditions Continue in Patna

Despite occasional cloud cover, intense sunlight during the day made weather conditions quite uncomfortable in Patna. The presence of purvaiya (easterly) winds added to the humidity, resulting in a muggy atmosphere.

Local residents in Patna expressed discomfort due to the ongoing sultry weather. Outdoor activity remained limited during the daytime, especially in areas with minimal rainfall.

Outlook for the Next 48 Hours

The IMD has indicated that monsoon activity will likely increase across Bihar in the coming days. The next 48 hours may bring more scattered rainfall and thunderstorm activity in several parts of the state.

Meteorologists expect isolated showers in central and southern districts, while northeastern districts might receive moderate to heavy rainfall. The warning for six districts remains in effect, and residents are advised to take necessary precautions.

Advisory for Residents

Given the possibility of heavy showers, local authorities in vulnerable districts are on alert. Farmers are advised to prepare for field drainage and avoid waterlogging in paddy fields. Urban residents are urged to stay cautious in low-lying areas prone to water accumulation.

The state government may issue further advisories if the rainfall pattern intensifies. Emergency teams are on standby, especially in areas that have previously faced flooding.

The weather in Bihar is shifting as monsoon systems gradually strengthen. With Patna experiencing partial cloud cover and drizzle chances, and six districts facing heavy rain alerts, the next few days are crucial.
