Prashant Kishor Launches Sharp Attack on Nitish Kumar

Published on

KKN Gurugram Desk | Political strategist and Jan Suraaj leader Prashant Kishor has once again ignited controversy with a scathing attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, questioning his mental fitness to lead the state. Speaking at a press conference in Chhapra, Kishor accused Kumar of suffering from a “serious mental illness” and challenged him to file a defamation lawsuit if the claims were untrue.

“If Nitish Kumar Is Mentally Fit, Let Him Sue Me”: Prashant Kishor’s Bold Statement

Kishor said:

“Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is not mentally sound. If I am wrong, let him file a defamation case and send me to jail. Otherwise, he should resign from his position.”

This provocative comment comes amid rising political tension in Bihar following a horrific rape and murder case in Muzaffarpur, where a 9-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly assaulted and killed. Kishor questioned Nitish Kumar’s complete silence on the incident, saying the Chief Minister hasn’t even issued a single statement.

Muzaffarpur Incident: “Worse than Nirbhaya, Yet No CM Response”

Kishor likened the Muzaffarpur case to the Nirbhaya case of 2012, stating that the recent crime was “even more horrifying”. He condemned Nitish Kumar for what he called “inhuman indifference” and suggested that the CM’s failure to address the issue publicly points to a serious inability to govern.

“Such incidents expose the insensitivity and incapacity of a leader who can no longer differentiate between governance and silence.”

“Unfit to Govern Bihar”: PK’s Repeated Critique

The Jan Suraaj leader went further, questioning Kumar’s ability to remember national leaders’ names, saying:

“He forgets the name of the Prime Minister. Such a man is not fit to be Chief Minister. BJP leaders should stop imposing such a person on Bihar’s 13 crore people.”

He reiterated that Kumar should voluntarily step down from the Chief Minister’s post for the greater good of Bihar.

“Not Afraid of Legal Threats”: PK’s Retort to Ministers

Responding to statements from JD(U) ministers who threatened to file defamation cases against him, Kishor said he’s not afraid of legal action.

“If Nitish Kumar is mentally and physically fit, let him file a case personally, not through his ministers.”

Kishor dared the CM to confront him in court and prove his mental competence, insisting he’s ready to face jail if proven wrong.

Accusations Against PM Narendra Modi: “Turning Bihar Into a Labor State”

Kishor didn’t hold back from criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi either. He alleged that the Modi government is deliberately keeping Bihar underdeveloped so that the state’s youth continue to serve as cheap labor in factories across India, especially in Gujarat.

“Modi has been in power for 11 years. Can he name a single factory set up in Bihar during this time?”

He cited examples of young Biharis working in Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat, questioning why people from one of India’s most populous states are forced to migrate so far for basic employment.

“No Industry, No Employment in Bihar”

Pointing out Bihar’s lack of industrial growth, Kishor said:

“Despite being one of the largest states, Bihar has become synonymous with poverty and labor migration. Why? Because there is no work here.”

He said the central and state governments have systematically failed to bring employment opportunities to the state, and that this economic neglect has deep political roots.

Background: PK vs. Nitish – A Long-Standing Feud

This isn’t the first time Prashant Kishor has attacked Nitish Kumar. Once a close aide and strategist for the JD(U), Kishor has turned into one of Kumar’s most vocal critics after launching his political campaign ‘Jan Suraaj’ aimed at transforming Bihar’s political system.

Over the past year, PK has consistently accused Nitish of being out of touch, recycling failed political alliances, and lacking vision for Bihar’s future. His accusations have gained traction among youth and civil society groups, especially amid rising crime and economic stagnation in the state.

Political Reactions and Fallout

The statement has led to a media and political uproar across Bihar. JD(U) leaders have condemned Kishor’s remarks, calling them “irresponsible and defamatory”, but no official defamation suit has been filed yet.

RJD and Congress leaders have remained cautious, waiting to see how the public reacts before issuing strong statements. However, several civil rights groups have echoed PK’s concern about the CM’s silence on the Muzaffarpur incident.

Public Sentiment and Growing Discontent

As Bihar grapples with increasing crime, youth unemployment, and mass migration, public dissatisfaction appears to be mounting. Prashant Kishor’s latest remarks, though harsh, have struck a chord with many frustrated citizens who believe the state lacks effective leadership.

His repeated call for transparency, mental and physical fitness of elected officials, and accountability in governance may be part of a larger pre-election strategy, but they are forcing uncomfortable conversations in the political establishment.

What Lies Ahead?

With Assembly elections on the horizon, PK’s confrontational tone signals an escalation in political warfare. If Nitish Kumar or JD(U) decide to legally pursue PK, it could become one of the defining political and legal battles of the 2025 Bihar election season.

But if no legal action is taken, it could further undermine Nitish Kumar’s credibility, reinforcing Kishor’s claim that the CM is unfit to lead and unwilling to face the people’s questions.

Prashant Kishor’s open challenge to Nitish Kumar marks a significant moment in Bihar’s political discourse. From raising concerns over the Chief Minister’s silence on a major criminal case to questioning the very foundation of Bihar’s governance under Kumar, PK has effectively put the state’s leadership under the scanner.
