Political Shift in Bihar: YouTuber-Politician Manish Kashyap Quits BJP

Published on

KKN Gurugram Desk | In a dramatic political twist ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, YouTuber-turned-politician Manish Kashyap has officially announced his resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Declared in a live Facebook address, he stated he no longer belongs to the BJP and expressed intention to stand up for the people of Chanpatia and Bihar .

 Why Kashyap Left BJP

Manish Kashyap’s departure stems from:

  1. Inability to raise civic issues, especially around migration and Bihar’s health system

  2. Alleged internal pressure, suggesting key concerns were ignored within BJP

  3. Desire for platform independence, citing he can’t pursue his social agenda while tied to party rules

  4. Political strategy shift, as he hints at readiness to fight on any platform that lets him hold officials accountable.

Newcomer Turned Politician

Manish Kashyap first entered the political spotlight during the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, contesting from Chanpatia. He legally registered as “Tripurari Kumar Tiwari” and attempted to raise anti-corruption issues. His body of work includes YouTube exposés exposing inefficient public services, which became particularly controversial when he shared misleading content about migrant workers in Tamil Nadu—leading to his arrest and later bail .

In April 2024, he officially joined BJP, citing alignment with PM Modi’s leadership. But he expressed disappointment after feeling abandoned post a violent clash with junior doctors at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) where he was allegedly assaulted .

Potential Alliances: Jan Suraaj & Beyond

With his exit, speculation is rising that Kashyap might join Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj party, which aligns with his public interest stance . His previous interactions with party leaders indicate such alignment is possible.

He also expressed openness to contest as an independent, urging supporters for guidance on whether to fight elections via party or solo .

What He Promises to Fight For

  • Health department failures: “I will raise my voice against the health department,” he stated

  • Curbing migration: Focus on policies that prevent the exodus of Bihar’s youth

  • Anti-corruption advocacy: Whether through platforms inside or outside political parties

  • Highlighting systemic injustice: He plans to expose those abusing power rather than fight individuals.

What This Means for Bihar Elections 2025

Kashyap’s exit and future moves have several implications:

  1. BJP Dynamics: His resignation signals internal strain and could motivate other critics

  2. New Political Entrants: BJP’s relationship with activist-YouTubers may change

  3. Opposition Gains: Jan Suraaj or independent platforms may benefit from his popularity

  4. Election Hot Spot – Chanpatia: Seats like Chanpatia may see more competition

Amid growing anti-corruption and civic activism in Bihar, Manish Kashyap’s departure from BJP and clear stand on public issues marks a shift. Whether he aligns with a new party like Jan Suraaj or contests independently, his next steps could significantly impact electoral dynamics, especially in Chanpatia and similar constituencies.
