Southern Bihar districts — Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Rohtas, Kaimur, and Patna — are under a heavy rainfall alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Moderate to heavy rain showers, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, are likely through the day .

Patna is forecasted to experience scattered showers and thunderstorms, with substantial cloud cover. Similar conditions are expected across East and West Champaran, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Buxar, Jehanabad, Nalanda, and other districts .

The remains humid and overcast, and despite the rain, there will be no significant temperature drop. Expect highs between 32–34 °C across South Bihar and lows of 26–28 °C statewide .

What Caused the Rain?

A low-pressure system centered over northwest Bay of Bengal, combined with an active trough line extending from Central Madhya Pradesh to North Bihar, is enhancing monsoon activity over the state . The rainfall is part of the peak monsoon phase, typically experienced from late June through September in Bihar .

From Sunday, June 29, North Bihar (e.g., Muzaffarpur, East/West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Siwan, Saran) is projected to see a significant uptick in rainfall. The IMD anticipates widespread, moderate to heavy showers, with thunderstorms and lightning, continuing through early next week .

Sunday is expected to be cloudy with intermittent rainfall, transitioning to more intense spells Monday through Wednesday as the monsoon settles in across North Bihar .
