Crime Strikes Just Meters from SP Residence in Siwan
Law and order in Siwan, Bihar is under the spotlight again after a daring shooting occurred mere 5 steps away from the SP’s official residence. According to eyewitnesses, a youth was chased and shot multiple times by unidentified criminals, leaving him critically injured. Another young man also sustained gunshot wounds during the attack.
This violent incident has sparked outrage among local residents and exposed glaring lapses in the district’s security apparatus.
Broad Daylight Attack at Gopalganj Mode
The shooting unfolded near Gopalganj Mode, a busy area of Siwan, when the victim, later identified as Kundan Kumar Chauhan, was on his way home. He was suddenly ambushed by armed assailants who had been lying in wait.
The attackers opened indiscriminate fire, chasing Kundan down the road before shooting him at close range. The intensity of the firing caused panic in the area, forcing bystanders to flee for safety.
Victim Critically Injured, Referred to Patna for Treatment
Locals rushed the injured Kundan to Siwan Sadar Hospital, where doctors provided emergency medical attention. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for advanced treatment.
According to medical sources, his condition remains critical.
Another youth, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, also sustained bullet injuries during the crossfire and is currently undergoing treatment.
Fearless Criminals Mock Law and Order in Siwan
What has truly shocked the people of Siwan is the location of the incident — barely a few meters from the Superintendent of Police’s official residence, a supposedly high-security zone. The fact that such a brazen attack could take place in such proximity to police authorities has sent alarm bells ringing throughout the region.
Citizens are now questioning how heavily armed miscreants were able to operate with such impunity in a government-protected area.
Police Launches Investigation, No Arrests Yet
Following the incident, police teams were immediately dispatched to the area, and an FIR has been registered. As of now, no arrests have been made, but CCTV footage from the area is being scanned to identify the attackers.
A senior police official stated:
“We are treating this case with top priority. The assailants will be arrested soon. Surveillance footage and eyewitness statements are being reviewed.”
Despite these assurances, the general public remains skeptical about the police’s ability to curb growing criminal activities in the region.
A String of Shootings Raises Alarms in Siwan
This is not an isolated incident. In recent months, Siwan has seen a spike in shooting cases, gang violence, and property disputes turning deadly. The ease with which criminals access weapons and carry out attacks has led to a climate of fear in the district.
Recent Crimes in Siwan:
-
May 2025: A businessman shot dead near Town Thana
-
April 2025: Group firing over land dispute leaves 2 injured
-
February 2025: Youth stabbed and shot near a school
Such consistent violence is prompting demands for more patrols, stricter surveillance, and better community policing.
Who Is the Victim?
The primary victim has been identified as Kundan Kumar Chauhan, a resident of Khurmaabad locality in Siwan. Sources say he had no known criminal record, and the motive behind the attack is still unclear.
Local authorities are probing:
-
Possible personal enmity
-
Gang rivalry or extortion angle
-
Misidentification by attackers
Further investigation is underway to determine if this was a targeted hit or part of a larger criminal conspiracy.
Public Demands Accountability and Safety
The incident has reignited a public debate over police effectiveness in Siwan, especially in zones marked as sensitive or VIP areas. Citizens and local activists are demanding:
-
Installation of real-time surveillance systems
-
Deployment of armed patrol teams in high-crime zones
-
Increased transparency in ongoing investigations
-
Accountability for lapses in high-security areas
The district administration, so far, has not issued a formal statement, which is further fueling speculation and public dissatisfaction.
This attack — executed in the heart of Siwan, and within shouting distance of the SP’s home — represents more than just a violent crime. It underscores a systemic failure in law enforcement, deterrence, and intelligence gathering.
As Bihar continues to battle a surge in organized crime, Siwan is emerging as a focal point of public unrest. Until strong, visible action is taken, the fear that no one is safe — not even under the shadow of authority — will continue to erode trust in the system.
