KKN Gurugram Desk | The monsoon season has fully arrived in Uttar Pradesh, bringing with it significant weather changes. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall is expected over the next two days, with an orange alert issued for 15 cities in the state. Along with heavy rain, strong winds and lightning strikes are also expected in many districts.

UP Rain Forecast: Orange Alert Issued for 15 Cities

The meteorological department has predicted that the monsoon’s impact will increase across Uttar Pradesh, with heavy rainfall expected today and tomorrow. Over the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall of 136 mm was recorded in Sonbhadra’s Ghorawal area, followed by 110 mm in Shravasti. This increase in rainfall is part of the ongoing monsoon system, which is now fully active in the state.

As per the latest weather updates, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall in 15 districts, from Sunday to Monday. These districts include Lakhimpur Kheri, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur.

In addition to heavy rainfall, these regions are also likely to experience strong winds and the possibility of lightning strikes. The weather department has also issued warnings for several districts in Bundelkhand and Western UP, advising residents to be cautious and prepared for the adverse weather conditions.

Lightning and Thunderstorm Warnings for Specific Areas

In addition to heavy rainfall, there is a significant risk of thunderstorms and lightning strikes in several districts across Uttar Pradesh. The areas under high risk for lightning include Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur, Kanpur, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Noida.

Residents in these regions are being urged to remain vigilant, as lightning strikes can pose serious risks to life and property. The weather department has recommended avoiding outdoor activities, especially during thunderstorms, and taking shelter in safe areas.

Heavy Rainfall Expected in Lucknow and Other Cities

The city of Lucknow is also set to experience significant rainfall as the monsoon intensifies. While there were mixed weather conditions in the city on Saturday, with periods of sunshine and light showers, the next few days are expected to see continuous heavy rainfall. According to the Meteorological Department, a prolonged period of heavy rainfall is predicted for the coming week.

From Monday to Wednesday, Lucknow and surrounding areas can expect showers with thunder and lightning. The rainfall may be accompanied by winds reaching speeds of 40 km/h or more, which could potentially cause disruptions in normal activities.

Senior scientist Atul Kumar Singh from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Amousi, Lucknow, explained that the favorable conditions for rainfall were created due to a weakening of the low-pressure area over the northern parts of Madhya Pradesh and southern Uttar Pradesh. This weather pattern has made conditions ideal for increased rainfall in the region.

As per the department’s predictions, the maximum temperature in Lucknow will be around 36.7°C, while the minimum temperature will dip to 27.1°C. The drop in temperature, along with the rainfall, will provide much-needed relief from the recent heatwave that has affected several parts of the state.

Weather Trends and Future Predictions

The monsoon’s presence in Uttar Pradesh will be felt more intensely over the next few days. With an active weather system in place, the state can expect heavy showers, particularly in the northern and central districts. The rainfall is expected to bring much-needed relief to residents who have been facing scorching heat in the past few weeks.

The IMD (India Meteorological Department) forecasts that this pattern of heavy rainfall will persist, especially in the western and central parts of the state, including cities like Kanpur, Allahabad, and Varanasi. By Sunday evening, the rainfall intensity is likely to increase, leading to more widespread weather disturbances. As the monsoon season progresses, similar weather patterns can be expected in the upcoming weeks.

The increase in rainfall is expected to be beneficial for agriculture in the state, especially for crops like paddy, which thrives in wet conditions. However, there is also concern about potential flooding, especially in low-lying areas. The meteorological department has warned residents in flood-prone regions to be on high alert.

Preparing for the Monsoon: Safety Tips for Residents

As the monsoon intensifies, residents across Uttar Pradesh are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the heavy rains and thunderstorms. Here are some key safety tips for dealing with the changing weather conditions:

  1. Stay Indoors During Thunderstorms: Avoid venturing out during thunderstorms, as lightning strikes can cause serious harm. If you must go outside, make sure to avoid tall trees, open fields, and water bodies.

  2. Secure Loose Items: Strong winds during the monsoon can cause damage to property. Ensure that any loose items in your home, such as windows, doors, and outdoor furniture, are secured properly.

  3. Flood Preparedness: Keep an emergency kit ready with essentials like food, water, medicine, and important documents. Stay informed about the weather updates and evacuation plans in case of flooding.

  4. Avoid Driving in Heavy Rain: Reduced visibility and slippery roads can make driving dangerous during heavy rainfall. Avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary, and if you must drive, ensure your vehicle is equipped for rainy conditions.

  5. Watch Out for Waterlogging: In some areas, heavy rainfall can cause waterlogging, especially in low-lying regions. Be cautious of stagnant water, which can lead to health issues.

As the monsoon season takes full effect in Uttar Pradesh, the state is preparing for more intense rainfall and the associated risks of thunderstorms, lightning, and flooding. The Meteorological Department’s forecasts indicate that several districts will experience heavy rainfall, particularly those in the western and central regions. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and prepared for changing weather conditions.

With the monsoon predicted to continue its course over the next few weeks, it is essential for people to stay updated on weather alerts and take appropriate safety measures to minimize the risks associated with the rains. The increased rainfall will benefit agriculture but could also lead to localized flooding, so the authorities need to stay proactive in managing the situation.

As Uttar Pradesh gears up for the monsoon’s full impact, citizens should prioritize safety and follow weather updates to ensure their well-being throughout this rainy season.
