KKN Gurugram Desk | The State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest public sector bank, has officially notified its customers about a planned service disruption. In a public announcement made via its official handle on X (formerly Twitter), SBI confirmed that multiple banking services—including UPI, YONO, and IMPS—will be unavailable early morning on June 8, 2025.

This temporary service outage is due to routine maintenance and upgrade activities aimed at improving digital banking infrastructure. All SBI users are strongly advised to complete their financial transactions in advance to avoid inconvenience.

Service Downtime: When and What?

According to the official SBI communication:

  • Date of Downtime: June 8, 2025 (Sunday)

  • Timeframe: 3:45 AM to 5:00 AM IST

  • Duration: 1 Hour 15 Minutes

During this period, the following services will be affected:

Service Name Status During Downtime
UPI Transactions Not Available
YONO App Not Accessible
IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) Not Available
NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer) Not Available
RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement) Not Available
NINB (Net Banking) Not Available

Services will resume normally post 5:00 AM, as per SBI’s official update.

Why Is This Important for SBI Customers?

This scheduled maintenance is a part of SBI’s regular efforts to ensure cybersecurity, service upgrades, and uninterrupted digital banking experiences. However, the short duration of the disruption may still impact those who depend on early morning transactions, especially business owners, freelancers, and essential service providers.

How Customers Can Prepare in Advance

To avoid transaction failure or payment delays, here are a few action steps:

  1. Advance Payments: Complete all critical payments like EMI, rent, and online purchases before June 8, 3:45 AM.

  2. Cash Withdrawal: Keep sufficient cash for early morning needs, especially if you depend on UPI or net banking for daily transactions.

  3. Alternate Banks: If urgently needed, use cards or accounts from other banks not affected by this downtime.

  4. Use Wallets: Services like Paytm, PhonePe (linked with other banks), and credit cards might offer alternative payment routes.

 SBI’s Official Statement on X

“We will be undertaking maintenance activity for improved banking experience. UPI, YONO, Net Banking, IMPS, and related services will remain unavailable on June 8, from 03:45 hrs to 05:00 hrs IST. We regret the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. – Team SBI”

This message was reposted by several financial advisory accounts and retweeted by users emphasizing the importance of digital infrastructure maintenance.

The State Bank of India’s downtime alert is a crucial reminder for customers to stay informed about scheduled service outages. Even though the disruption is brief, timely preparation will help avoid last-minute hassles.
