KKN Gurugram Desk | The ongoing discourse around the caste-based census in Bihar continues to gain political traction. Speaking at a press briefing in TarapurMithilesh Kumar Singh, the National Secretary of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), strongly advocated for the caste census, calling it a necessary step to ensure equitable development across all social groups.

According to Singh, the caste census will help identify the accurate population figures of every community, thereby allowing the government to design data-driven welfare policies that reflect the real social structure of the state.

“Caste Census Will Help Shape Development Roadmaps”

Addressing local journalists, Mithilesh Kumar Singh emphasized that every community stands to benefit from the caste census. He argued that development cannot be inclusive unless the demographic realities of caste composition are understood.

“Knowing how many people belong to which caste is not about division—it’s about inclusion. With real data, we can ensure that no community is left behind in government schemes,” Singh said.

He also emphasized that such a census would help policymakers allocate resources fairly and build a roadmap based on population-centric planning.

“Bihar Wants Chirag Paswan’s Leadership”

Apart from the caste census, Singh also voiced strong support for Chirag Paswan, leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), asserting that the people of Bihar want him to lead the state.

“Chirag Paswan is the true representative of Bihar’s youth and aspirations. Bihar is his karmabhoomi (land of action). He has proven his commitment to development with his Bihar First, Bihari First vision,” Singh said.

The LJP(R) leader criticized opposition parties for what he described as “baseless rhetoric,” stating that their objections to the caste census or Chirag Paswan’s leadership lack substance and popular support.

Presence of Local Party Leaders and Workers

The press conference was attended by several key party functionaries, highlighting local-level support for the LJP(R) and its agenda:

  • Jayram Mandal, LJP(R) Block President

  • Rohit Singh, ICL District President

  • Vishal Anand, Youth Block President

  • Kailash Bhagat, senior party worker

Their presence was seen as a display of organizational strength and coordination at the grassroots level in Munger district, where Tarapur is located.

The Broader Context: Why Caste Census Is Politically Significant

The demand for a caste-based census in Bihar has gained momentum in recent years, with political parties across the spectrum acknowledging that social justice policies can only be effective when backed by updated demographic data.

Key Political Arguments in Favor:

  • Data-Driven Welfare: Enables accurate targeting of schemes for backward and marginalized communities.

  • Social Representation: Helps ensure fair political representation based on actual population numbers.

  • Policy Making: Assists governments in identifying regional and social disparities more effectively.

The LJP(R)’s strong push in favor of the census aligns it with other regional parties like RJD and JD(U), who have also voiced support for this initiative. However, the tone and approach of LJP(R) remain focused on future-oriented governance and youth-driven leadership.

Political Messaging: “Bihar First, Bihari First”

Singh reiterated the party’s guiding slogan “Bihar First, Bihari First”, coined by Chirag Paswan. The motto emphasizes:

  • Transparent governance

  • Employment for local youth

  • Investment in infrastructure

  • Inclusive economic growth

He argued that only a new, young leadership like Paswan’s could break Bihar out of the cycle of vote-bank politics and bring about real change.

Opposition Criticism Dismissed

When asked about opposition leaders criticizing the caste census as divisive, Singh dismissed such concerns.

“It is unfortunate that while people demand development, some leaders choose to distract with negativity. The caste census is a step toward inclusiveness, not division,” he stated.

He also criticized opposition parties for being “detached from ground realities” and accused them of obstructing reforms purely for political gain.

Upcoming Elections and Caste Census as a Core Issue

With state elections likely within the next two years, the caste census is emerging as a central campaign theme. Parties are positioning themselves based on how strongly they support or oppose it.

For LJP(R), the census aligns with their vision to:

  • Ensure social equity

  • Drive real-time development programs

  • Empower neglected and underrepresented castes

Party insiders believe this issue could significantly mobilize voters, particularly in rural and backward constituencies, where lack of proper representation and resources has long been a concern.

Grassroots Mobilization in Tarapur and Munger

The event in Tarapur is part of a broader statewide outreach campaign by the LJP(R) to build public support for caste census and increase visibility for Chirag Paswan’s leadership.

Local units have been instructed to:

  • Organize awareness campaigns

  • Engage with local communities and panchayats

  • Distribute informational material explaining the benefits of the census

  • Mobilize youth and first-time voters

This campaign is seen as a strategic effort to consolidate backward class votes and position LJP(R) as a development-focused alternative to both national and regional parties.

The message from Tarapur is clear: LJP(R) is all-in on pushing for a caste census, not as a political stunt, but as a foundation for Bihar’s development future.

As Mithilesh Kumar Singh put it, “Real development begins with real data. The caste census is not about looking backward, it’s about planning forward.”

With such assertive positioning, LJP(R) continues to frame itself as a party of new ideas, seeking progressive governance through inclusive policymaking — with Chirag Paswan as its face.
