In a significant development in Muzaffarpur, the expansion of the -Tengraha Path has led to land acquisition for the project. The authorities have earmarked approximately ₹2.08 crore as compensation for the landowners whose properties were affected by the expansion work. In another pressing issue, a safety concern has emerged on the Godhanpur-Ramdayalu NH-28 stretch, where a damaged divider grill near Khabra Temple has made travel hazardous for commuters. Here’s a detailed breakdown of these developments:

Land Acquisition for Minapur-Tengraha Path Expansion

The Minapur-Tengraha Path in Muzaffarpur is undergoing widening to facilitate smoother traffic flow. This ambitious project requires the acquisition of private land in order to increase the road’s width. The land acquisition process has already been completed in several mouzas (villages), with significant portions of land acquired from Mouza Nandana and Mouza Taveebpur (Talimpur).

  • Mouza Nandana: 0.3110 acres from Chadar No. 1

  • Mouza Taveebpur (Talimpur): 2.5090 acres of land

  • Mouza Nandana: 1.9960 acres from Chadar No. 2

The total area of land acquired for this expansion project spans over 4.8 acres. Now, compensation for the landowners (referred to as “raiyats”) is being processed, with ₹2.08 crore set aside for this purpose. The District Land Acquisition Office has already submitted the Market Value Report (MVR) to the authorities, setting the compensation rates. The payment process has been approved by the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and is now awaiting the disbursement of funds.

According to the instructions from the District Land Acquisition Office, the Executive Engineer of the Road Construction Department-II has been requested to make the payment available promptly. This will ensure that the landowners receive their dues at the earliest, possibly through a dedicated camp for payment processing.

Call for Quick Payment Disbursement

The landowners, whose land has been acquired for the road expansion, are eagerly awaiting the release of their compensation. To expedite this, the Executive Engineer has sent detailed requests to the headquarters, asking for the funds to be made available quickly. Once the amount is disbursed, a payment camp will be set , and the compensation process will be completed.

This land acquisition and compensation process is essential for the Minapur-Tengraha Path expansion, which will reduce traffic congestion and improve overall transportation in the region.

Safety Concerns on NH-28 Near Khabra Temple

In a separate issue, NH-28, the National connecting Godhanpur to Ramdayalu, has become a dangerous stretch for commuters due to a damaged divider grill near the Khabra Temple. The divider, which was supposed to separate the two lanes of traffic, has a grill installed that was initially meant to help vehicles stay in their designated lanes.

However, due to a lack of maintenance, the grill has come loose and is now leaning dangerously over the road. This poses a significant risk for drivers and can in accidents if not addressed immediately. The situation has persisted for nearly a month, but NHAI officials have not yet taken action to repair it, even though the NHAI office is located in Godhanpur, just a short distance away from this stretch of the highway.

Potential Risks Due to the Damaged Divider

The broken divider grill has created an unsafe condition for those traveling along NH-28. Since the grill is now bending towards the road, drivers must exercise extra caution when navigating this area. Any momentary lapse in attention could result in a collision with the divider, leading to serious accidents. The authorities’ lack of attention to the problem has raised concerns among local commuters and residents.

Given that NHAI officials frequently travel along this route, it is puzzling that the issue has been overlooked for so long. Despite being aware of the hazardous condition, no steps have been taken to fix the problem. The lack of timely intervention and monitoring has made this stretch of the highway even more perilous.

The Need for Immediate Action

The absence of proper monitoring and maintenance is a glaring issue that needs immediate attention from the National Highways Authority of (NHAI). With the NHAI office in close proximity to the problem area, it is crucial that the authorities take swift action to repair the damaged grill. Commuters on this highway, including those traveling to Patna and Samastipur, depend on this road for daily commutes, and safety should be a top priority.

Local residents and commuters have voiced concerns about the lack of safety measures in place, especially considering that this is a major highway used by both private vehicles and commercial traffic. Addressing this issue will not only prevent accidents but also ensure smoother and safer transportation for everyone traveling on NH-28.

Both the Minapur-Tengraha Path expansion and the safety concerns on NH-28 highlight the need for timely infrastructure development and maintenance. While the land acquisition for the Minapur-Tengraha expansion has been efficiently managed, ensuring that the landowners are compensated fairly is equally important. The ₹2.08 crore compensation payment process needs to be expedited so that the affected landowners receive their dues without further delay.

On the other hand, the safety hazard on NH-28 calls for immediate attention from the NHAI. The damaged divider grill near Khabra Temple not only poses a danger to drivers but also reflects the lack of maintenance on major highways. The authorities must take prompt action to fix the grill and ensure that such issues are monitored regularly to prevent accidents.

As Muzaffarpur continues to develop its infrastructure, it is essential that these safety issues and development projects are handled with the urgency and attention they deserve to ensure a safe and efficient transportation system for all.
